The Biggoron’s Sword trading quest
N64 · 1998 Original adventure guides. Remake mechanics are not assumed.
Keep a little mystery.
Start with the gentlest clue, or go straight to the route below.
01A gentle nudge
Start with someone in Kakariko who cares for Cuccos. The first errand is more about waking a sleeper than fighting a monster.
02A clearer direction
Every trade points to the next person. The three perishable deliveries are the mushroom, the frog and the eye drops; plan those routes before accepting them.
03The final clue
The final craftsman is Biggoron at Death Mountain’s summit. Helping his eyes comes before repairing the sword.
Ready when you areThe complete route
Begin with the Cucco Lady’s Pocket Egg in adult Kakariko. Follow the trades to Biggoron, deliver his eye drops, then return with the Claim Check after three in-game days.
Pocket Egg → Cojiro
Get the egg from the Cucco Lady. After it hatches overnight, use the Pocket Cucco to wake Talon in Kakariko’s house near the well. Return it to the Cucco Lady for Cojiro.
Cojiro → Odd Mushroom → Odd Potion
Take the first left in the Lost Woods and show Cojiro to the man by the stump. Deliver his mushroom to Granny within 3 minutes. Reach her through the back of Kakariko’s daytime Potion Shop.
Odd Potion → Poacher’s Saw
Return to the same Lost Woods clearing. The man is gone; give the potion to the Kokiri girl who now stands there.
Poacher’s Saw → Broken Goron’s Sword
Cross Gerudo Valley’s broken bridge using Epona or the Longshot. Give the saw to the head carpenter on the far side.
Broken sword → Prescription
Reach Death Mountain’s summit and show the sword to Biggoron, near the crater entrance. Accept his Prescription.
Prescription → Eyeball Frog
Thaw King Zora with bottled Blue Fire if needed. Show him the Prescription only when ready to travel. The frog must reach the scientist inside Lake Hylia’s Lakeside Laboratory within 3 minutes.
Eye Drops → Claim Check
The scientist gives you eye drops with a 4-minute limit. Ride through Hyrule Field to Kakariko, climb Death Mountain Trail and deliver them to Biggoron. A planted bean outside Dodongo’s Cavern shortens the climb.
Claim Check → Biggoron’s Sword
Wait three in-game days, then show Biggoron the Claim Check. Outdoors, six uses of the Sun’s Song can advance three day/night cycles; let each transition finish.
Prepare before accepting a timer
Use Epona for the long field crossings. Check the route to the laboratory and mountain before collecting perishable items. Warp songs spoil timed deliveries; travel across Hyrule instead.
Original N64 completionists
The Forest Stage Deku Nut upgrade can become unavailable after obtaining the Poacher’s Saw. If you want that upgrade, get it first; this is an original-version quirk.
Keep the two swords straight
The purchased Giant’s Knife is not a prerequisite and can break. Biggoron’s finished sword is durable, but using it takes both hands: put it away before raising your shield.
