Only as much help as you want

Keep a little mystery.

Start with the gentlest clue, or go straight to the route below.

01A gentle nudge

Return to the place Link called home before the adventure began. Your friend is deeper in the forest now.

02A clearer direction

At each tunnel, listen before walking through. The clearest music is a clue to the right exit.

03The final clue

The destination is the Sacred Forest Meadow. Beyond its gate and maze, Saria is waiting at the top of the stairs.

Ready when you areThe complete route

As a child, take the Lost Woods route right → left → right → left → straight → left → right. Pass through the Sacred Forest Meadow and speak to Saria to learn her song.

  1. Return to the Lost Woods

From Kokiri Forest, climb to the wooded entrance above the village. Begin the route at the first Lost Woods room; the directions assume this starting point.

  2. Choose seven exits

Go right, left, right, left, straight, left, then right. Take each direction relative to the entrance you just used. If you reappear in Kokiri Forest, begin again.

  3. Cross the meadow

Defeat the Wolfos to open the gate. Work through the hedge maze, dealing with the Mad Scrubs, then climb the stairs at the far end.

  4. Learn the melody

Speak with Saria and accept her lesson. On the N64 controller: C-Down, C-Right, C-Left, then repeat those three notes.

Why the same woods look different later

This route is written for child Link. The adult visit has different obstacles; do not look for child Saria during that later journey.

A song with a purpose

Once learned, Saria’s Song lets you contact her. It also gives you a way to cheer up Darunia in Goron City.

Check it off when you have the reward.
